BIOGRAPHY

Based on the Sunshine Coast, Malia Stirling is an up and coming Australian folk singer/songwriter. With her distinct, angelic voice and poetic lyrics, Malia has captured hearts across Queensland and New South Whales over the past 6years. Shedding light on losing yourself, finding yourself and falling involve with the journey; Malia aims to create a safe, supportive space for like-minded people to gather and feel all the feels.

Beginning her journey at the age of 8years old, Malia was always drawn to the stage and found comfort in expressing herself through the arts. By the age of 12 she began gigging regularly across the Sunshine Coast at various venues, events and festivals. Some of her most memorable moments were formed while being a featured vocalist (2016 and 2017) in Creative Generations at the Brisbane Convention Center (later aired on Network 10), as well as performing at Caloundra Music Festival (2017), Perigean Originals and the Gympie Music Muster (2019).

Recently in 2022 and 2023, Malia has shared her songs with listeners across Australia supporting internationally known artists such as; The Fabulous Caprettos (Darryl Braithwaite, Rai Thistlethwaite, Jack Jones and Russell Morris), Vanessa Amorosi, Thirsty Merc and Shane Howard of Goanna alongside her partner, Josh Maynard. Together, the pair have found a life on the road, falling more involve with the country, making memories and sharing stories along the way.

In 2017, Malia released her debut EP, ‘Sun and Moon’ which facilitated her growth and gave her a deeper insight to herself as an artist. After that she went on to study Popular Music at the Conservatorium of Music where she widened her horizons and found a passion for recording and producing. After graduating in 2020, Malia continued to nurture her passion for recording and music production. With influneces such as Missy Higgins, Sara Barellis and Kate-Miller Heidke, Malia gives dynamic, emotive performances supported by rich, swelling production. Following the release of her first self-produced track, ‘Fire’ in 2022, Malia is excited to be sharing her sound with several singles throughout 2023. Kicking it off is her single and debut music video ‘Kaleidoscope’ out now on all platforms.
